(Houston, TX) — The baby born in Houston with Zika-linked microcephaly is the first to be born in Texas with the condition and health experts say it won’t be the last. The mother of the baby in Harris County had traveled from Latin America, where she was likely infected with the mosquito-borne virus. Two previous microcephaly births, in New Jersey and Hawaii, also were linked with women who traveled to Latin America. The condition produces babies with abnormally small heads and defective brain development.
