Congratulations to our newest pet of the week, Elphaba the Parakeet, and her owner, CMI freshman Theresa Brown!
Elphaba, or Elphie as her owner calls her, was adopted when a neighbor posted they were giving away a free parakeet that their bird had captured after a run outside. Theresa’s mom wasn’t allergic to this feathered friend like she was with other pets, so Theresa got to take Elphaba, named after the main character of Wicked, home.
Elphie’s story doesn’t end there, as after they learned Elphie was a boy and had quite the musical ear, earning over 1,500 followers on TikTok as he listened to classical and Broadway music.
Elphie is now a retired celebrity but is still a friendly little guy and very special to Theresa.
Huge congrats again to Theresa and her baby bird, Elphaba!
