(Midpines, CA) — The fast-moving wildfire burning southwest of Yosemite National Park is growing at an alarming pace. The so-called Oak Fire has exploded to nearly 17-thousand acres in size. Crews were able to gain ten-percent containment overnight. About six-thousand people are under mandatory evacuation orders as countless homes are threatened. Ten structures have been destroyed and another five damaged by fire. California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency for Mariposa County, which is north of Fresno.
