Tech’s Vivian Gray Announced as a Top 50 Player on the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Watch List

Lady Raider senior guard Vivian Gray was announced as one of the top 50 women’s college basketball players on the John R. Wooden Award watch list. 

Gray, a 2020 First-Team All-Big 12 selection, is on the top 50 list for a second straight season. Gray has been announced as a unanimous Preseason All-Big 12 selection. She was also a WBCA Coaches All-America Honorable Mention as well as a top 10 finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award.

The super senior finished her 2020-21 campaign averaging 19.8 points per game to go with 8.2 rebounds. She was 10th in the conference with a .438 field goal percentage and fifth in blocked shots (1.6 bpg). 

The Wooden Award All American Team will be announced during the “Elite Eight” round of the NCAA tournament in 2022. The winner of the John R. Wooden Award will be announced following the conclusion of the NCAA tournament in April. 

The Lady Raiders will tip off the 2021-22 season this Thursday against Southeastern Louisiana at the United Supermarkets Arena.
