(Austin, TX) — The University of Texas is tapping Texas Tech for their next men’s basketball coach.
Multiple reports say Chris Beard is being hired by the Longhorns after five seasons with the Red Raiders. Texas Tech was the runner-up in the 2019 NCAA Tournament, and was beaten by Arkansas in the second round of this year’s tournament.
Beard served as a student assistant coach with the Longhorns from 1991 to 1995. He replaces Shaka Smart who took over the Marquette program last week.
This is an April fools joke?
Sadly no, not an April Fool’s joke. -DG
