A football player’s lapse in judgment leads to the whole team missing the playoffs.
Yesterday, the Edinburg CISD said the Edinburg High football team won’t be allowed to participate in the playoffs after Thursday’s incident in which defensive back Emmanuel Duron was thrown out of the game after a late hit against a Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School player.
Duron has since been arrested and faces assault charges after he ran back onto the field and body slammed the official.
It isn’t clear why the district chose to penalize the whole team over Duron’s lack of discipline.
