If North Carolina doesn’t want to host the 2020 Republican National Convention, Texas will be happy to.
That’s the message state GOP chair James Dickey announced on Monday.
President Donald Trump and North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, had a Twitter exchange on Monday in which the president demanded an in-person convention in Charlotte, or else the state would risk losing the August event.
Dickey said Gov. Abbott’s reopening of Texas is allowing the state party to hold its convention in July in Houston.
