Events canceled, employees furloughed as North Texas city budgets suffer

Cities in North Texas are experiencing a budget crunch as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. 

Dallas officials say the city is losing more money now than it did during the great recession more than ten years ago. 

City Council on Wednesday discussed possible delays to street repairs and other projects as a result of a forecast 25-million-dollar loss of revenues from the city’s general fund. 

About 80 city employees in Fort Worth, who run the Fort Worth Convention Center and the Will Rogers Memorial Center, will be furloughed on May 18th.
