The Texas Democratic Party is suing to expand the availability of mail-in voting as a safety measure during the coronavirus outbreak.
State law limits mail-in ballots to voters age 65 or older, those who can’t vote in person for health reasons, people out of the country, and eligible voters in jail.
The state party filed the federal lawsuit on Tuesday in San Antonio, along with three Texans who plan to vote in the primary runoff election on July 14th.
The lawsuit seeks to allow voters to mail in ballots as a means of social distancing.
