$38M in federal funds going to Texas cities

Almost 40-million dollars in federal pandemic relief funds are on their way to Texas cities.

Source: News Break / Austin, Texas (KTRK) — Government offices across the state will soon have more money for things like paid overtime and even protective gear as they continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor Greg Abbott says the money will be used to pay for overtime for essential staff, personal protective equipment, supplies, and medical care for coronavirus-positive jail inmates.

Abbott is confident the money will help provide communities with the necessary resources.

The funds are being distributed through the governor’s Public Safety Office.
