Crane Collapse at LA Chargers/Rams Stadium

A large construction crane collapsed this morning outside SoFi Stadium, the new home of the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers and Rams, according to the city’s fire department. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Around 8 a.m., the firefighters were dispatched to the stadium in Inglewood. Franklin Lopez, the fire department spokesman, said the crane that was being moved hit a stationary crane, causing it to collapse.

Even with the collapse, the 70,000 seat stadium will open up in July with Taylor Swift performing and then a few weeks later, the Rams and Chargers will play their first preseason games.

The new SoFi Stadium will host the Super Bowl for the 2022 season and the college football championship in 2023 as well as some events in the 2028 Summer Olympics.
