El Paso border activists head to Washington, D.C.

A group of border activists from El Paso is headed to Washington, D.C. today to speak with members of Congress.

The group effort is spearheaded by Border Network for Human Rights.

Spokesperson Fernando Garcia says the intention is to bring attention to lawmakers about what he describes as a lack of human rights training for members of border region law enforcement agencies.

Garcia says it is time for border region law enforcement agencies’ personnel to respect the Constitution and act in a humanitarian way with immigrants.
