Colts running back Marlon Mack had surgery on his fractured hand yesterday. Head coach Frank Reich has not said when his productive young star will return.
During the inner division matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Mack injured his hand in the third quarter.
At 23-years-old, Mack currently is the leading rusher for Indianapolis with 862 yards with seven rushing touchdowns. Last season, he ended up rushing 908 yards with 9 rushing touchdowns.
Mack spoke about his injury saying “I didn’t want to risk it anymore after that. It was crazy. I broke the last tackle and I got pushed out of bounds. Life is a balancing act. It’s how you get back from it. Having to be patient with it.”
Missing Marlon will be a phrase that Colts fans will be saying while they will most likely go into the playoffs. Coach Reich said it himself, “We’ll miss Marlon, he is having a great year, but feel very confident in all three of those guys.”
Jonathan Williams and Jordan Wilkins will get a lot more touches now, while Nyheim Hines will remain the Colts’ third-down back. They will travel to Houston to play the Texans this Thursday night for another tough inner division battle.
