Caraway moved from federal prison to Dallas county jail

Former Dallas Mayor Pro-Tem Dwaine Caraway is in the Dallas County Jail, and officials aren’t saying why. 

Caraway is serving a four-and-a-half-year sentence in a west Texas federal prison for taking bribes in the Dallas County Schools scandal. 

The U.S. Marshals Service transferred Caraway to the local jail last week.  He’s expected to be the prosecution’s star witness in the trial of a Dallas real estate developer charged with bribing Caraway. 

But the trial isn’t scheduled to start until January.
