The Houston Rockets defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder last night 116-112.
In just the third game of the season, Russell Westbrook had to face his long-time former team. He ended up scoring 21 points with 9 assists and 12 rebounds. Near the end of the fourth quarter, Westbrook drove into the bucket but dished it out to P.J. Tucker to hit a clutch 3-pointer to seal the game.
James Harden definitely wasn’t out of the mix as he scored 40 points along with having 7 assists in the victory. Although 40 points is a lot, he was only 8 for 21 from the field and 3 for 14 from beyond the arc. Harden only missed one free throw but made 21 of them.
In this awkward meeting, former Rocket Chris Paul ended with 15 points and only 4 assists. His teammates Dennis Schroder and the 21-year-old Shai Gilgeous-Alexander both ended with 22 points in the tight game. Schroder was on fire from deep as he was 4 for 8.
The Rockets move to 2-1 on the young season and will play in Washington tomorrow at 7. The young Thunder team will also play tomorrow but against Dame Time Lillard and the Trail Blazers in Oklahoma City.
