Imagine a game where there is no defense. Buckets after buckets without contention. Now imagine a total of 317 points scored in one game… without going into overtime. Who needs defense anyways right?
That’s what the Rockets and Wizards thought last night as Houston ended up winning a narrow victory of 159-158. This 317 combined scored without going into overtime set an NBA record for most points scored in regulation.
James Harden took advantage of the Wizards magically bad defense and scored 59 points with 9 assists on the night. His BFF Russell Westbrook got a triple-double with scoring 17, giving out 12 assists, and getting 10 rebounds.
For Washington, Bradley Beal went off with hitting 7 of his 12 three-pointers and ended up scoring 46 points with 8 assists. The 21-year-old Rui Hachimura helped out Beal with 23 points alongside Isaiah Thomas with 17 points.
The Rockets now improve to 3-1 while the Wizards fall to 1-3 early in the season. Harden and Westbrook will travel to Brooklyn to play Kyrie Irving tomorrow while the Wizards will host Karl-Anthony Towns on Saturday night.
