49ers corner Richard Sherman said that he is planning on apologizing to Baker Mayfield after wrongly saying the QB wouldn’t shake his hand at the coin toss.
Sherman was ticked throughout the game on Monday night. Maybe that’s why he picked off the young gun. But a video showed in fact that the two did shake hands at midfield. After seeing the video provided by ESPN, Sherman said that he will apologize to Mayfield.
The self-proclaimed “best corner in the league” went onto the Pat McAfee Show this morning and talked about the situation. He told Pat “I never want anybody to have to deal with some stuff that they didn’t do. And so, you know, the questions that he’s gonna get and the annoying, nonsense questions about some stuff that happened in a game that’s already been done, you know, sure he’ll get an apology for that. I’ll probably reach out to him via text or social media to actually get a hold of him and talk to him … on the phone.”
After practice today, Mayfield hadn’t checked his phone yet but did say “it was nice” of Sherman to apologize to him.
