Democratic presidential candidate Julian Castro says he will get rid of the Remain in Mexico asylum seeker policy if he is elected.
Yesterday Castro crossed into Matamoros, Mexico near Brownsville to meet with asylum seeking immigrants.
The former San Antonio mayor says immigrants have suffered illnesses and been subject to violence while they wait for asylum.
Under President Trump’s policy, asylum seekers must wait in Mexico before their claims are considered.
If elected, Castro says he will end the policy through an executive order.
