A former Dallas police officer is pleading guilty to charges stemming from alleged falsification of traffic tickets.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Matthew Rushing pleaded guilty to making a false statement in an initial appearance in federal court in Dallas on Tuesday.
He could be sentenced to five years in prison when he’s sentenced in March.
Federal prosecutors say Rushing wrote at least three-dozen-or-so false citations and that arrest warrants were sometimes issued, all so that he could collect overtime pay.
