The Houston Astros beat the New York Yankees in Game 2 of the ALCS last night 3-2 thanks to Carlos Correa’s bomb in the 11th.
Verlander had a solid day with allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, and 7 strikeouts while the Yanks had to switch out James Paxton after 2 innings since the Astros seemed to pick something up on him. New York had 9 pitchers on the mound for the night, all of them pitching for less than 2 innings.
The Astros got on the board early at home from a double from Correa to score one. But then comes the Judge.
Aaron Judge hit a 423 foot home run off of Justin Verlander to score two in the top of the 4th.
George Springer answered back later in the 5th with a home run of his own to left-center. The two powerhouses battled out through the 9th to eventually get to the bottom of the 11th.
Carlos Correa was ready to go home. On the very first pitch from J.A. Happ, Showrrea aimed for the fences as he hit a 394-foot homer to right, almost landing in the second deck. The game’s MVP was accountable for 2 RBI’s in the game and could have started the momentum Houston had been looking for.
Gerrit Cole will start for the Astros while Luis Severino will start for the Yankees in Game 3 of the ALCS in New York tomorrow at 3:08 PM.
