The MLB has place Yankees’ pitcher Domingo German on administrative leave of absence due to a violation of the league’s domestic violence policy.
With the playoffs just around the corner and in a tight race with the Houston Astros to get the first seed, losing German is a big blow to New York. With a career-high of 153 strikeouts and an ERA of 4.03 in only 27 appearances, the 27-year-old is now on a seven-day leave.
“We fully support all measures being undertaken by the Commissioner’s Office pursuant to the Policy on Domestic Violence,” the Yankees said in a statement regarding the investigation. “We support this policy which reinforces that domestic violence has no place in our society and cannot be tolerated.”
With a speedy investigation underway, there have been reports that German could possibly receive a suspension. The American League Division Series begins on October 4th, in which the pitcher could possibly not be available to play in.
