Cowboy Hall of Famer QB Troy Aikman got heated about being compared to Patrick Mahomes this morning.
The Athletic tweeted out this morning that “Patrick Mahomes has thrown 36% of Troy Aikman’s career touchdowns, in about 8% of the games.” The NFL commentator shot back on Twitter saying “Talk to me when he has 33% of my Super Bowl Titles.”
You might have a point there Troy. Aikman got his first ring back in 1992, on his fourth year in the pros. Mahomes is only on his third this season and just barely missed going to the Super Bowl last year.
The Kansas City Chiefs are currently +550 to win the Super Bowl while the Patriots are +360 to win it again this season. On top of that, Mahomes is already an MVP candidate as he leads the league in passing yards and passing touchdowns with no interceptions.
I think it’s safe to say that comparing Mahomes and Aikman is a logical debate. Granite, Mahomes is very young in his career and has many more years to come, but the former Red Raider truly is unhuman when he steps on the field.
