Texas Republicans in Congress are defending President Donald Trump after the Democrat-led House started an impeachment inquiry.
Democrats are upset over a phone call Trump made to the president of Ukraine asking for an investigation of the business interests of Joe Biden’s son in the Eastern European nation.
Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz both backed Trump on Wednesday. Cruz says the impeachment inquiry is prompted by Democrats’ anger that Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Trump’s many GOP defenders also include his frequent critic Rep. Will Hurd of Helotes.
