Tejano Queen to make an “appearance” at Dia de los Muertos celebration

Selena will be putting in a spooky appearance at this fall’s Dia de los Muertos celebration in San Antonio.

A “catrina,” or skeletal figure, of the Tejano Queen will be on the corner of Market and South Alamo Streets during the event in the first three days of November.

More than 40 indigenous artisans in Mexico took two months to create the catrina, which is more than eight-feet tall and covered with more than two-million beads.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg and the staff of Menchaca Studios unveiled the statue on Thursday afternoon at La Villita.
