Oakland’s star linebacker Vontaze Burfict has been suspended for the entire 2019 season after his helmet-to-helmet hit against Colts’ tight end Jack Doyle.
The scary hit happened in the second quarter in which he was later ejected after the officials discussed the flag. The Raiders ended up winning 31-24 over the Colts.
NFL insiders have said that Burfict will not be paid during his suspension, including the playoffs. This is a historical suspension because it is the longest suspension for an on-field incident in league history.
Speaking of history, Burfict is known for his questionable, borderline legal hits. This is the fourth league-imposed ban of his career. He has had 13 suspensions and fines all in seven seasons just with the Cincinnati Bengals.
