Oakland Raiders to sign Dakota Allen from Rams

The Raiders are planning on signing former Texas Tech and Last Chance U star linebacker Dakota Allen.

After Sunday’s game against the Vikings, linebackers Vontaze Burfict, Marquel Lee, and Nicolas Morrow all ended up with injuries. Yesterday, head coach Jon Gruden had said that the Raiders were going to look for a linebacker to fill in, and they chose Dakota Allen.

Out of Lubbock, Texas, Allen was picked in the seventh round at pick number 37 by the Los Angeles Rams. With playing all games in the pre-season, Allen made the practice squad come regular season.

While at Tech, Allen seemed to make every tackle, having a total of 249 of them and allowed a reception every 22 attempts. He was also named to the PFF All-Big12 Team. Allen played the 2016 season at East Mississippi Community College with Last Chance U. He became the first player from Netflix’s show to be drafted into the NFL.

Be sure to watch the Raiders face the Colts this Sunday to see if the former Texas Tech star will get to have his NFL debut.
