Mahomes could get a $200M Contract Extension

ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter has said that Patrick Mahomes could be the first player in NFL history to sign a contract extension over $200 million.

Regarding Mahomes this offseason, Schefter said “After this year ends he’s eligible to sign his first long-term deal or his first second contract and he is expected at some point during the offseason to get a new deal done with the Chiefs that I would think, just guessing, is gonna be a deal in excess of $200 million over the course of that contract. “So let’s just say five years, $40-plus million.”

Currently, the king with the biggest contract in sports belongs to Russell Wilson, with a four-year, $140 million deal with a $65 million signing bonus.

With leading the Chiefs to the AFC Championship game to compete in a back and forth game against the Patriots to lose in overtime, Mahomes has proven himself to already be in the G.O.A.T. conversation. And don’t expect the Chiefs to not pay one of the best QBs in the league.
