The Houston Astros beat the Texas Rangers 3-2 yesterday to become the first team this season to 100 wins.
Astros ace Gerrit Cole had 10 strikeouts in eight innings with allowing the only two runs the Rangers managed to score. Cole now has 302 strikeouts in 200 innings pitched with an ERA of 2.61.
Yuli Gurriel had a great series against the Rangers as he homered for two consecutive games. Jose Altuve followed up with another homer, while yet again, the rookie Yordan Alvarez had another 2 hit game.
With Houston also becoming the first team in the American League to secure the playoff berth, the next goal they are aiming for is getting the first seed. The New York Yankees are currently 99-54 on the year and are in a tight contention to get that first seed. The Astros will host the Angels tomorrow at 7:10 and will look to continue their 5-game winning streak.
