The following is a news release from the Slaton Police Department:

On Thursday, April 4th, 2019, at approximately 10 a.m., Slaton is set to honor the unclaimed veterans traveling through via the Missing in America Project.

As it stands today, the plan is to have Slaton ISD grade levels 5th through 12th along the access road of U.S. Hwy 84 between Zarates Auto and McDonald (south of highway) with a Charter bus separating High School and Jr High holding over 250 US Flags with their hands over their hearts as the convoy of motorcycles and law enforcement drive by.

All media is welcomed to attend the event.

A couple of years ago, with only 1 days notice, the Slaton community put together a fantastic show of support and this year have pulled together to make it even better.

All community members are welcomed to attend.  Slaton “Library of Legacies” will be bringing their veterans out also.

Any questions, contact Slaton High School Principal Shaye Murphy at 806-828-5833.
