According to Children International, 400 million children are living in extreme poverty across the globe.

This is why the Children of the World choir sponsorship program started: To give kids a future, and spread the word of God.

Choir leader Kayla Eshleman said it costs $35 a month to sponsor a kid in need.

“People don’t realize how great the need is, so to connect them with kids who need help is a great privilege and something we don’t take lightly,” Eshleman said.

Kayla’s husband Keith is also a choir leader for the program.

He said after the ten month tour, the 15 kids in the choir will have their future set.

“The kids in the choir, they receive a college scholarship and that really sets them up for success in the future and gives them an opportunity they may not have otherwise,” Eshleman said.

Of the 400 million children living in extreme poverty, 125 million are not in school, according to data from the United Nations.

“It really is a foundation for success. The education in their country is vital for them to get a good job and to have a stable life, just to get out of that cycle of poverty,” Eshleman said.
