Defense officials report more than three-thousand more active duty troops will be sent to the southern U.S. border to enhance security.
They’ll be joining 23-hundred troops who are already there.
The Department of Defense is sending the additional troops at the request of the Department of Homeland Security.
President Donald Trump tweeted on Thursday that additional troops would soon be on their way.
The combined force at the border will put the number closer to the mission’s peak of 59-hundred troops.
