Paxton Sues SA and SAPD For Violating Sanctuary Cities Law

San Antonio, TX  —  Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing the city of San Antonio for violating the state’s sanctuary cities law.

Also named as defendants in Friday’s lawsuit are the San Antonio Police, Police Chief William McManus, and City Manager Sheryl Sculley.

The suit arises from an incident a year ago when San Antonio police caught 12 illegals in the back of a big-rig trailer.

McManus ordered them released instead of handing them over to federal immigration authorities.

The 2016 Texas sanctuary cities law has been upheld by a federal appeals court.
