Texas AG Asked If “No Chase” Policies Put Police At Risk

Austin, TX  —  Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is being asked if “no chase” policies put police officers at risk.

The House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence sent the request to Paxton this week with Representative Joe Moody asking if the policies lawfully limit the powers of peace officers.

The El Paso Democrat also asked if police could face civil penalties for not going after a suspect because of the no chase policy.

No word on when Paxton will issue an opinion.
