(Hempstead, TX) — A rookie Sheriff’s deputy near Houston is dead following a crash on Halloween. The Waller County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Loren Vasquez’ patrol car flipped into a water-filled ditch after driving through flooded out FM 362 near Hoover Lane. She was eventually pulled from the water after responding officers broke one of the car’s windows. The 23-year-old had just completed her 20 week Field Training Program. A cause of death has not been announced.
