(Austin, TX) — The state is rejecting the voter registration applications of more than 2,000 people across Texas.
The Secretary of State’s Office on Thursday said Dallas County is one of those affected, along with Travis, Bexar, and Cameron Counties.
Some 2,400 Texans thought they had registered at the nonpartisan organization Vote-dot-org.
State officials say those applications aren’t valid because they have a digital copy of a signature instead of a handwritten one.
An attorney for Vote-dot-org calls that claim absurd.
