Violent Gangs Growing Problem In Houston Area

(Houston, TX) — Violent gang activity is reportedly on the rise in the Houston area.

Police Chief Art Acevedo says there are at least 20,000 documented gang members in and around Houston.

The FBI says gangs are spreading drug-trafficking operations from the inner city to the suburbs, and turf wars can result in murder, drive-by shootings, and other violent crimes.

Among the 30 gangs identified as active in Houston are MS-13, the Bandidos, the Mexican Mafia, the Texas Syndicate, the Aryan Brotherhood, and chapters of the Crips and Bloods.
