LUBBOCK — The Texas Red Raiders took on the Lamar Cardinals inside the Jones AT&T Stadium. The Red Raiders looked to bounce back from a disappointing loss last week in Houston against Ole Miss.
With the injury of Mclane Carter in last week’s game true freshman Alan Bowman took the field as the starter and he lit up the stadium in the first half going 22 for 25 with 282 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. That momentum carried over for the entire game as the Red Raiders shutout the Cardinals 77-0. “We kept them off the score board so we have to tip our hats off to the defense for getting the shutout today” Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury said.
The Tech defense played lights out today only giving up 182 total yards and forcing 4 turnovers. “It was very important for us to come back from last week and focus and do our jobs and show that our defense has changed” Freshman linebacker Riko Jeffers said.
On the offensive side of the ball they put on an impressive performance with 683 total yards and 6 Red Raiders being able to score touchdowns.
Texas Tech will host the (2-0) Houston Cougars next Saturday at 3 P.M. looking to improve their 1-1 record this season.
