Prof: Texas Would Benefit From Justice Kavanaugh

(Austin, TX) — A law professor at UT Austin says Texas will likely benefit if Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court this week.

Steve Vladeck says the state legislature regularly passes laws that “test the Constitution,” and the state attorney general and solicitor general are ready to defend these laws.

Kavanaugh’s tendency to rein in federal regulation would favor Texas’s lawsuits against the EPA, for example.

Both of the U.S. Senators from Texas, Republicans John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, say they will support Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
