(Austin, TX) — The campaign of Democratic Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke says a text message asking people to help illegal immigrants vote is a fake.
The text turned up Wednesday on social media, claiming to be from “Beto for Texas,” and calling for volunteers to give “undocumented immigrants” a lift to the polls.
O’Rourke’s communications director says the text was posted by an impostor.
The campaign of incumbent Senator Ted Cruz, O’Rourke’s Republican opponent, denies having anything to do with the texts.
