(Blanco County, TX) — Texas vineyard owners are wrapping up an early harvest because of this year’s dry weather.
Grape harvests in the Hill Country usually start in August, but since dry weather causes grapes to mature early, this year the harvest started in mid-July and was finished in the first week of August.
The upside is a better-tasting wine.
Grapes from well-watered vines hold more water, diluting the sugars.
So the dry weather may make 2018 a great vintage year.
