(Undated) — According to a new study, immigrants use health care services less than native-born Americans and are not a burden on the system.
Researchers at Harvard and Tufts Medical Schools and the Cambridge Health Alliance examined nearly 200 studies over the past 18 years.
They found that immigrants spend less on private and public health care than people born in the U.S.
The study also says immigrants contributed more toward Medicare than they took out.
Researchers found that from 2002 to 2009, immigrants contributed $14 billion more to Medicare than they withdrew.
