(San Antonio, TX) — In the midst of a measles outbreak, a San Antonio pediatrician says he’s worried about the growing trend of families refusing to vaccinate their kids.
Dr. Ryan Van Ramshorst says he’s most concerned about children who actually can’t be vaccinated for medical reasons, because they’re vulnerable to a number of diseases.
He says the number of children who aren’t being vaccinated has greatly increased since 2003, the year Texas passed a law allowing exemptions from vaccinations.
Texas is one of 20 states battling a measles outbreak.
