(Houston, TX) — The Houston Fire Department is having problems with its new radio system.
Shortly after the department started using the new system of Motorola handheld radios last month, firefighters at a couple of stations found that voice transmissions from the mikes in their new face masks were garbled.
Assistant Fire Chief Rodney West says the radios are okay, but accessories such as lapel mikes and mask mikes aren’t working right.
West says the department is working with Motorola and 3M Scott Safety to fix the problems.
