(Fort Worth, TX) — The city of Fort Worth says it plans to operate its red-light cameras as long as the state doesn’t outlaw them — which it may.
The Fort Worth Transportation Department says the city has 58 cameras around town.
Other cities, including Arlington, have gotten rid of their red-light cameras.
Governor Greg Abbott on Monday referred to a study that indicates the cameras don’t always improve public safety.
So far the state legislature hasn’t succeeded in banning the cameras, but the issue is already being discussed for next year’s session.
