(Dallas, TX) — An unpopular idea to house homeless people in Dallas recreation centers won’t see the light of day.
The Dallas City Council overwhelmingly voted down the proposal on Wednesday.
City staff spent months developing the idea, which attempted to house more than a thousand homeless people without putting them all in the downtown area.
Council members say their constituents were concerned about the impact the plan would have on children’s activities at the rec centers.
