(San Antonio, TX) — As the Alamo Master Plan takes shape, Mayor Ron Nirenberg says he opposes any barriers or gates in the Alamo Plaza.
Nirenberg says the plaza has been the city’s “community center” over the years, the site of “protests, demonstrations,” and visits from presidential campaigns.
The Alamo Master Plan is a joint effort between city leaders, the Alamo Citizen Advisory Committee, and the Texas General Land Office, which manages the Alamo.
Community input, gathered from often feisty public meetings, is also being factored into the plan.
