(Arlington, TX) — The Rangers are trading pitcher Cole Hamels to the Chicago Cubs for two minor league prospects.
Hamels has been having a rough time on the mound lately.
The Cubs hope the 34-year-old southpaw will benefit from a change of scenery.
The Rangers will receive Class A pitcher Rollie Lacy and a player to be named later.
Players on both sides of the trade still need to pass physicals before the deal can be made official.
This season is the final guaranteed year of Hamels’s six-year contract with the Rangers.
