(Lansing, MI) — Larry Nassar is asking for a new sentencing hearing, saying the original judge was admittedly not an unbiased and impartial judge.
The former Michigan State team doctor was convicted on ten sexual assault charges and in her sentencing, Judge Rosemarie Aquilina said she signed his “death warrant.”
In two motions filed by his court-appointed attorneys, Nassar says the judge’s handling of the case is to blame as to why he was attacked in federal prison and why a father of three of his victims attempted to attack him at another sentencing hearing.
Nassar’s legal team argues Aquilina violated judicial guidelines and allowed herself to be swayed by the public clamor. On top of this sentencing appeal, Nassar is currently awaiting a ruling on his appeal in federal court.
