HPD Chief: Murdered Doctor May Have Been Targeted

(Houston, TX) — Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo says there’s a “high probability” that the doctor fatally shot in the Medical Center was targeted.

Acevedo made the comment on Thursday.

Dr. Mark Hausknecht, a cardiologist who treated former President George H.W. Bush, was riding his bicycle to work a week ago when another man on a bike gunned him down.

Police describe the suspect as white or Hispanic, around 30 years old, about five feet ten, with a slender build.

Surveillance cameras caught his image, but police have no solid leads.
