(Austin, TX) — The Electric Reliability Council of Texas is reporting a new record high demand for electricity system-wide.
ERCOT says demand topped 71-point-four megawatts between 3 and 4 p.m. Wednesday.
That broke the previous record of 71-point-one megawatts that was reached in August of 2016.
ERCOT says more demand records are likely this summer.
The ERCOT region includes Houston, though not The Woodlands, plus Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi, Abilene and the Rio Grande Valley, but not the entire state.
